I have been very outspoken against the militarization of the police and
the more aggressive police training of late however most must agree that
the vast majority of police officers are good people with a very
difficult job.
You cannot paint all police with the same brush and
regarding police brutality, it depends on the case. In the Ferguson
case, the "victim" made a lot of bad decisions that ended with him being
shot and the grand jury (with african american members) found
insufficient evidence to indict the police officer. On the other hand,
the case in NY where 3 police tackled that guy for selling cigarettes
and choking him to death was clear cut brutality and the officer who
choked him SHOULD be charged.
Everyone needs to remember that this
holiday season if someone is breaking into your home or is following you
and you are scared, who are you going to call ??? That's right these
same maligned police will come and help you---we should never forget
that.
