US-China climate deal aims to prod others to act
Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution states
"The President shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of
the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators
present concur".
So, where is the discussion of Senate ratification
?? NO PRESIDENT has the authority to sign a treaty and then just
implement it without the Senate ratifying it !!!
The other question
that no one asks is how will this treaty be implemented and how much
will the cost of electricity and goods rise to meet this goal ?? How
many jobs will be lost ?? If the goals are met what effect will this
have on the environment ??
Politics aside, these things need to be
debated in the Senate and a vote held. If Obama attempts to implement
this without Senate approval, that is a clear violation of the
Constitution and grounds for impeachment.
